2017 Shasta AutoX Challenge Series starts April 9th!

By April 2, 2017Uncategorized

Please join us for the first points race of the 2017 “Shasta AutoX Challenge Series” on Sunday, April 9th.  Setup is Saturday at 5pm – please come out to the track and help us get everything ready for the race.  Chase Warner is our Race Director and will bring us maps for setup.  Danny Ide will bring the tow vehicle.  Ray Dibble will be acting Secretary for the event.

Gates open at 7:30am on Sunday with driver’s meeting at 9am.  Entry fee is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.  If you have not autocrossed with us in pre-season this year, please arrive early enough to complete your registration / tech sheet and have your car and helmet inspected.  We also hope to have our club t-shirts ready at this event.
Updates from 03.21.2017 TTC Club Meeting!

1.  Timing / Scoring:  No rounding – all times will be recorded in thousandths (0.000)
2.  Timing / Scoring:  Times called out from the timing trailer will be the adjusted time including penalties.  Example: a time of “51.50 plus 1” is a 50.50 raw time with a 1 second penalty.  Adjusted time and penalty notation will be recorded on the timing board.
3.  Novice Class:  After two events, a competitor is no longer eligible for novice class and must race in their car class.
4.  Class Race Day Trophy:  To be eligible for a race day trophy based on the best PAX time for your car class (Street, Street Touring, Street Prepared, and Modified), there must be 3 competitors in the combined PAX class.
5.  Car Identification:    The club would like competitors to display SCCA compliant door numbers.  These are 8″ numbers with 4″ car class – specifications are in section 3.7 of the SCCA solo rule book.   Chase Warner is working on a design that will incorporate the club’s logo – please reach out to him if you’d like a number design created for your car.  The cost to get them made is around $45 / set – Chase has a source, and we have a club sponsor who can help – contact Cat or Halli of “Tach’d Up Vinyl”.  Competitors may continue to use tape or large, clearly written window marker to identify their car number and class.
6.  Flagging / Communication:  We would like to improve communication between the workstations, the flagger, and timing.  The center workstation will be responsible for getting the cone count from all workstations and communicating with the flagger, who will will then update timing.  Will have some new walkie-talkies to try to make this work better than our typical method of shouting.
7.  Race Series Name:  We have a new name for our racing series – “Shasta AutoX Challenge Series.”  This name is on our published Schedule, on Where2Race, on our upcoming local event listings, and will be printed on our t-shrts and race schedule banners.
