Sharon and Ted Haley Spring Enduro 2024 Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We were blessed with dry weather and a great group of racers for our spring enduro, honoring our friend and colleague Sharon Haley and her late husband Ted, who were both instrumental to the development and sustainment of our little racing club over the years.  We missed Sharon dearly this weekend, but had a great event with a lot of people pitching in to help out – she would have been proud, but have a few things to say, I’m sure.  Saturday, Larry Nelsen in the Brunton Stalker Super claimed top time, chased by Troy Dewell in his XP Miata.  Sunday, it was Troy with a record setting time of 181.215 for the 5 lap enduro and first top time for the supercharged Miata.  Blake DeWit sailed his ES Miata to commanding PAX wins both days.  We also had two Novice graduations with Arbor Evans and Oliver Bagnell completing two events and moving on to their car classes for the year.  Thank-you to everyone who made it out this weekend for a fun two days of autocross, and we are looking ahead to a great year of events.

No Weds Club Meeting + Kart Track This Weekend

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We are moving this month’s Club meeting as it fell on Valentine’s Day to the weekend event at the Kart Track, so if you were planning to ditch your S.O. using the meeting as an excuse, you’ll need a new excuse.  We’ll find a time this weekend to sync up on Club business including our season schedule and merch.

We are a Go for this weekend, though it does look to be wet.  We’ll have some cover from the rain and a challenging course, and we hope you’ll join us for a great opportunity to autocross on the Shasta Kart Klub track just south of the Redding Drag Strip.  Please sign up now http://msreg.com/ttc2024ps2  * and please plan to be at the track for the first driver’s meeting each day so we can rearrange run groups as needed to cover workstations.  It should be a great weekend for seat time and we hope to see you there!

We have the facility starting Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon.  Overnight camping is allowed on Saturday (no power or water).  Food and fuel are nearby at Rancho Rd. and Airport Rd.  There is seating, picnic tables, and some rain cover.  The access road and parking areas are gravel – go slowly.  RV Parking area is paved.  The staging lanes are paved – please do not park on the staging lanes.  All of the rules we have at the Shasta Speedway apply here as well, no drugs or alcohol, children and pets must be supervised, no aggressive driving on the access roads, etc.

January Results + February at the Kart Track

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The 2024 autocross pre-season started with a hearty group of racers taking on a slalom course in conditions that varied from soaking wet to mostly damp, with a healthy dose of grit.  Those who stuck around Saturday were treated to an awesome afternoon ‘fun run’ session in the mostly dry, and by Sunday the sun had returned for everyone.  We took advantage of the casual practice day vibe and ran fun runs first thing on Sunday to help dry out the track and get everyone ready for a fast day of racing.  The weekend’s stand-out performer was Max Power in the STU classed Elantra N, taking top time both days and leaving everyone else scrambling for second, with Jerry Shaha a very close second on Sunday by just 0.063 seconds in his STR Miata.  PAX saw the return of the ES Miatas to the top of the results, with Jeremy McNeely fastest Saturday for his first ever PAX win, and Blake DeWit on Sunday landing a familiar first, this time on 5 year old tires.  Our fastest Novice on Saturday was Paytonne Evans in a Mini Convertible, and Sunday saw Sean Kelly fastest in a BMW 330ci.  We had a great group and a very smooth event for our first time out since October.   A big thank-you to everyone for making it out to race with us!
